So Christmas came back this year as well..

..and aren’t we happy about it?
To finally get to stress about, with the gifts, and the trees and the food? This mass hysteria in consumption?
This post could very well evolve to some kind of odyssey in picking on what has grown to be customs in our society, with spending money on seemingly useless things, when others around us are less fortunate.
But it won’t.
Enough people will take care of that subject, in the blogosphere, in media, at the dinner table.

I’ll just note that I haven’t seen much of any of that this Christmas. I geared down from a wonderful summer, thinking on moments on the balcony, great visits from abroad and long summer nights, and then, kadaboom, there was Christmas, all snuck up on me.

This whole thing with gifts, I’ve actually completed this task all through autumn, without thinking of it. Picking up a good idea there, ordering spontaneous things online here, and all of a sudden, when it comes down to stacking up under the Christmas tree; I realized about a week ago that I’m all set.
Without even having to worry about it. Being all caught up with work and that thing they call life, I haven’t really had time to give a second damn about it.
I even came home from the office today (got some more gadgets in place there today, and some chairs. The place is coming together!) and realized I felt for a walk back downtown, to see what this Christmas thing is all about, having missed it the last couple of weeks.

Being prepared for the worst, I geared up with best of chill on my ipod (no christmas jibberish, ’nuff of these Spotify Christmas Playlists already!), sharpened my elbows and had a double espresso before I left the safe boundaries of home for Västermalmsgallerian and it’s surroundings (not too far though, hey, I’m a Kungsholmer, yes I am..)

Talk about the calm after the storm! Not more people out than a normal Tuesday at 5, I even got inspired for some bonus-gifts, and a few for myself, just because I could.

So all and all, this far, Christmas has been mild on me.
I’m now looking forward to spending quality time with mum & co in Uppsala, engaging in as much cooking and eating activities as possible, cause that’s a lot of what we do our Christmases.
I like it.

So, just as Christmas Eve has kicked in a few hours ago, to all and all of you out there, hope you’re havig a great Christmas, and remember: take care of the family, but furthermore – take good care of yourself.

This is supposed to be a holiday of serenity, sharing and recharging.

Time to focus on the latter. Good night, and Santa: looking forward to seeing you tomorrw.
I’ve been good. Really.
